honey walnut chicken
This honey walnut chicken reminds me of the kind served in Chinese restaurants. Our honey is the secret ingredient!
INGREDIENTS:
½ cup walnuts
4 large egg whites
⅔ cup flour
1 tbsp. garlic powder
1 cup olive oil for frying
1lb. chicken, chopped
¼ cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup milk
2 tbsp. honey
2 tbsp. canned sweetened condensed milk
Rice for side dish
DIRECTIONS:
Chop chicken into bite sized pieces.
Whip egg whites in a medium bowl until foamy. On a plate, mix flour and garlic powder until well combined.
Coat chicken in egg white and then dip in flour mixture.
Heat oil in a heavy deep skillet over medium-high heat.
Then fry in batches in hot oil until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Stir together mayonnaise, honey, milk, and sweetened condensed milk in a medium serving bowl. Sauce will be thinner.
Add fried chicken and toss to coat with sauce, then add walnuts to the mix. Serve over rice.
