honey walnut chicken

This honey walnut chicken reminds me of the kind served in Chinese restaurants. Our honey is the secret ingredient!

INGREDIENTS:

  • ½ cup walnuts

  • 4 large egg whites

  • ⅔ cup flour

  • 1 tbsp. garlic powder

  • 1 cup olive oil for frying

  • 1lb. chicken, chopped

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise

  • 1/4 cup milk

  • 2 tbsp. honey

  • 2 tbsp. canned sweetened condensed milk

  • Rice for side dish

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Chop chicken into bite sized pieces.

  2. Whip egg whites in a medium bowl until foamy. On a plate, mix flour and garlic powder until well combined.

  3. Coat chicken in egg white and then dip in flour mixture.

  4. Heat oil in a heavy deep skillet over medium-high heat.

  5. Then fry in batches in hot oil until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  6. Stir together mayonnaise, honey, milk, and sweetened condensed milk in a medium serving bowl. Sauce will be thinner.

  7. Add fried chicken and toss to coat with sauce, then add walnuts to the mix. Serve over rice.
