chicken Devonshire

This recipe features our Savory Chicken Soup Base. This is an easy dinner recipe that took me about 30 minutes to put together.

INGREDIENTS:

Cheese Sauce:

  • 4 tbsp. butter

  • 4 tbsp. all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup prepared savory chicken soup base

  • 1 cup whole milk

  • 8 oz. shredded cheddar cheese

  • 2oz.  shredded Parmesan cheese

Sandwich:

  • 4 slices Italian bread lightly toasted

  • 2 5oz. chicken breasts

  • 4 slices tomato

  • 1 dash paprika

  • 4 slices bacon cooked

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.

  2. Add the flour and cook for about 1 minute.

  3. Add the prepared chicken soup base and milk and stir until the sauce thickens.

  4. Add the cheeses and stir until melted.

  5. Remove from the heat and stir occasionally as you assemble the sandwiches to prevent a skin from forming on top of the sauce.

  6. Set the oven to broil.

  7. Place 2 pieces of toasted bread in a pie pan. The 2 pieces of bread will form 1 open-faced sandwich.

  8. Top the bread with cooked chicken breast and 2 slices of tomato.

  9. Ladle some of the cheese sauce over the sandwich and sprinkle with paprika.

  10. Place 2 slices of bacon crisscrossed over the cheese sauce and broil until the cheese begins to brown.

  11. Repeat for the second sandwich.

  12. Transfer the sandwich to a plate and serve
